The SDMA would like acknowledge King of the North Dragway for beginning construction on their new track in Bonfield, which is expected to be opening in the Spring of 2011.

The organizing committee for this years event is looking for volunteers to help out at the Ribfest Car & Bike Show. Volunteers will be needed mostly in the mornings to direct the parking of show participants cars and bikes.

Development corporation OKs funding for motorsport park

The Sudbury District Motorsport Association (SDMA) has tightened the last bolt in its funding vehicle. The Greater Sudbury Community Development Corporation will be adding $61,500 to the SDMA’s motorsport park project budget, once the association receives the rest of its funding from other sources.

SDMA APPROVED FOR FUNDING REQUEST

GREATER SUDBURY, ONTARIO— The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) has approved funding for the Sudbury District Motorsports Association in the amount of $61,500 conditional on receiving similar funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund to complete Phase I of a multifaceted motorsports facility. The objective of Phase I is to select a consultant or team of consultants to assist the SDMA with a site assessment, environmental assessment, the development of a conceptual design and business plan for the proposed park.
